Since its formation, the societal impact workgroup has served as a catalyst for inclusive dialogue around quantum technology in Belgium. Our mission is clear: ensure that as quantum innovation accelerates, society keeps pace, not just technologically, but ethically, socially, and economically.
We start with conversation, but don’t stop there. By engaging with a diverse network of policymakers, researchers, civil society leaders, industry partners, and citizens, we translate big questions into tangible strategies. Through public forums, policy roundtables, and company briefings, we’ve built a bridge between expert insight and societal action, ensuring quantum progress is grounded in what truly matters.
What we’re building
With momentum growing across the national quantum ecosystem, we’re moving into a more structured phase of action. In the months ahead, the societal impact workgroup will:
- Publish targeted briefings for policymakers: clear, concise, and ready to support legislative clarity and societal alignment.
- Release practical “impact checklists” for businesses to assess their readiness across ethics, sustainability, skills, and privacy.
- Collaborate across all five Quantum Circle workgroups: from Business to Research, to embed societal needs in technical development and innovation pathways.
Do you have insights, concerns, or bold ideas about quantum’s social impact? Reach out and maybe we can integrate them into our work.
