Belgium’s quantum community. Built to make it happen.

Leading quantum

innovation in Belgium & beyond

Curiosity, ambition and an unstoppable drive to make Belgium a serious player in quantum technology. Three things – let’s call them “qubits” – that led us to found Quantum Circle in 2024, a non-profit community with one mission: turn quantum expertise into action, for every organisation ready to take the first step, seeking for business impact!

What Quantum Circle

stands for

Quantum adoption, expertise and community in Belgium.

This is what the Quantum Circle community stands for

  • Bring the right people together. Researchers, industry, policymakers and technology providers, working on the same quantum challenges, in the same room.
  • Make quantum real. Hands-on sessions, use cases and pilots that start from business decisions, not for the sake of technology. Honest about what quantum can and cannot do today.
  • Build Belgian quantum expertise. KU Leuven, imec and COSIC rank among the best in Europe in quantum hardware and post-quantum cryptography. Quantum Circle makes sure that expertise finds application.
  • Connect beyond Belgium. Belgian quantum talent belongs in international programmes, standards bodies and ecosystems. Quantum Circle links our members to European quantum initiatives, the EU Quantum Flagship, the European Quantum Industry Consortium, NATO and global quantum communities.

How Quantum Circle helps your organisation adopt quantum technology

Making quantum work for your organization? Here’s how we help

  • Identify where quantum fits. Through working sessions and use cases across utilities, finance, logistics, telecom and defence, we help you find the right starting point.
  • Build your first quantum experiment. From use case to proof of concept: we connect you with the expertise and partners to run a first pilot.
  • Stay informed on what matters. Post-quantum cryptography standards, quantum hardware milestones, EU policy developments, … Our members hear about it before it makes headlines.
  • Join an industry working group. Share your business challenge and we make sure you can work with the people already working on the topic, in Belgium and beyond.

Say hi to Jan Sonck, driving force behind Quantum Circle.

Meet the workgroups driving it all

With over thirty years at the intersection of technology and business, Jan has built a career connecting the people who bring technology with the people who need it. At Proximus, as Quantum Innovation Lead, he had a front-row seat to Belgium’s quantum potential: world-class research, sharp engineers, ambitious companies. And one thing nobody had done yet: bring it all together.

So Jan did. He built Quantum Circle as a non-profit with one mission: give Belgian organisations the clarity to understand quantum, the direction to act on it, and the connections to make it happen.

“I get energy from connecting purpose and strategy with outcomes, and engaging people on the journey towards quantum adoption.”

“From secure network design, to intelligent traffic routing: quantum is not science fiction. This is happening right now, and Belgium is ready to lead.”

– Jan Sonck, founder Quantum Circle
